The near-total solar eclipse is expected to bring out hundreds of sky-watchers eager to witness the phenomenon as the moon moves in front of the Sun this morning.
The rush hour lunar event is set to thrill or disappoint millions dependent on the fickle British weather.

Further south, after a cloudy start many parts will enjoy a fine day with sunny spells developing and it will feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has revealed some tips on how to make a pinhole camera to view this morning's partial solar eclipse.

'Eclipse chasers' flock to arctic Norway town

Eclipse tourists have flocked to the polar town of Longyearbyen in Norway, one of only two places on land where the moon will completely blot out the Sun tomorrow.
In the past few days, thousands of 'eclipse chasers' have braved the arctic winds in the Svalbard archipelago to set up camp in a bid to witness the rare phenomenon.
And cold weather is not the only thing to worry about. Tourist Jakub Moravec was attacked by a polar bear in his camp in the early hours of Thursday.
