Today, several girls, Christians among them, inclusive, have fallen into the trap of pornography. Try to collect your daughter or younger Sister's phone so as to check what is inside there and you will most likely hit a brick wall. Smart phones are helping in the easy access to the internet and therefore the privacy needed to engage in different forms of sexual acts online. My personal involvement with young people over the years has thought me not to ever take anything for granted. </span></div>

The urge became so powerful that she forgot what she was doing and headed straight for the candy aisle.</span></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">She searched the options wondering which one she should choose.</span></strong></h1>

The label pulled at her desire with words like <em style="border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“Great new taste!” “Satisfaction guaranteed!” “No more hunger cravings!”</em></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The girl grabbed the candy bar and started savoring her first bite. Her entire being was enraptured in the moment. She loved the way the candy made her feel. It was so gratifying that she was sure she would never need another candy bar again.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">All of the sudden the girl noticed a strange and disgusting flavor in her mouth. Instead of eating smooth chocolate, she realized she was actually chewing on mud and gravel. The nasty taste made the girl’s stomach start to churn at the thought of what was inside of her mouth.</span></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">She ran to the water fountain, spit out the muddy mixture, and rinsed out her mouth.</span></strong></h1>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">After a long moment at the water fountain the girl looked down at the remainder of the candy bar in her hand. Her thoughts drifted back to how creamy and delicious that first bite of candy tasted, and suddenly she longed for more.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Although that story is only fictional, it gives us a very clear picture of how pornography works.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Pornography covers itself in a candy-coated package offering up promises like “Satisfaction guaranteed!” and “No more cravings!”</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">At first (like the candy bar) it seems to deliver on those promises, but only for a short time. In the end you will find yourself feeling disgusted by what you did and, at the very same time, strangely craving for more.</span></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Porn never satisfies.</span></strong></h1>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">According to <a href="http://www.covenanteyes.com/pornstats/" style="border: none; font-weight: bold; margin: 0pt; outline: none !important; padding: 0pt; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">Covenant Eyes</a>, it’s estimated that 20% of Christian women are addicted to pornography. Sadly, that number seems to be growing greater by the year.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Girls of all ages are finding themselves enslaved to pornography with no power to escape.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">If you are one of those girls struggling in this specific area, I have great news for you.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">If you have trusted Christ as your personal Savior, you can have hope and lasting freedom in this area.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">The truth is, in and of yourself you have no power to escape, but with the power of Christ dwelling inside, you can find freedom. Sin and death were overcome by Jesus at the cross. “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” (Romans 6:18).</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">There is no sin in the world that is too big for God to conquer.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">If you are struggling with pornography and desire to find lasting freedom in this area, let me encourage you to consider these thoughts and verses.</span></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">1. Confess your sin to God.</span></strong></h1>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1st John 1:9).</em></div>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.” And You forgave the guilt of my sin” (Psalm 32:5).</em></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">2. Renew your mind with God’s Word.</span></strong></h1>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).</em></div>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11).</em></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">3. Fill your mind with holiness and truth.</span></strong></h1>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things” (Philippians 4:8).</em></div>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me (Psalm 51:10).</em></div>

<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">4. Put off sin and put on purity.</span></strong></h1>

<em style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;">“Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24).</em></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Finally, do whatever it takes to get rid of pornography.</span></strong></h1>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Throw away books, magazines, TVs and computers. Matthew 5:29 says, “If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.”</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">Be willing to take drastic measures. It’s worth it! If you are serious about destroying this sin in your life, then you need to prove that through your actions. Don’t let pride or embarrassment get in the way of gaining victory.</span></div>
<h1 dir="ltr" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<strong style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0); border: 0pt none; margin: 0pt; outline: invert none 0pt; padding: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">I want you to know that you do not have to continue in your secret struggles.</span></strong></h1>

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">These verses are only the start of the power Christ has to offer for gaining victory in this area.</span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="padding: 0px 29px; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">I highly, highly encourage you to talk to your parents or pastor’s wife about your struggle. Remember one of the best ways to gain lasting freedom in this area is through accountability (Gal. 6:12, Ecc. 4:9-12). Don’t try to overcome your struggle on your own. There truly is strength in numbers.</span></div>

The mind is structured to carry out two basic functions. These are;<br />
<br />
<b>Storage</b><br />
<br />
This function involves the ability to picture or photograph, file, record, store and replay pictures and information of the past. This implies that our past is stored in the memory location of the mind.<br />
Imagination/Thinking/ Reasoning<br />
Apart from storage the mind is structured and imbued with the ability to originate or generate whatever it wishes through the power of imagination. It is this ability that is employed in inventions. The mind does the work of thinking, sketching, designing, drawing, modeling of what we wish to happen. The wonderful thing is that there is an inherent ability in the mind to follow-up its own design, wish or ambition with such a drive that works its way towards the completion of what is on paper. That is why when a man is destroyed in the mind, that man is truly finished; that’s the devil target.<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>Memory and Imagination</b><br />

“Memory arrests the past and replays it to you while imagination arrests your future and pre-plays it to you.”<br />
When David came face to face with Goliath, his confidence in God, which was already registered in his mind became manifest. Someone has rightly said that, “Wars do not make brave men, it only reveals them.”<br />
David said,<br />
“Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine, your servant will go and fight him.”<br />
 King Saul replied young David,<br />
“You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been fighting from his youth.”<br />
 These deadly, imposing and intimidating spiritual arrows from King Saul were shot at David but it met a superior fire power. David refused to be intimidated and so responded rightly. His memory location was activated to replay the past for him to read and draw courage and strength for facing his giant. And there, the war was fought and won; in the Mind.<br />
Look at what David remembered and let King Saul into,<br />
“Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them…The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” [Psalm 17: 32-37, NIV]<br />
What a confidence!<br />
David remembered what a difference the help of the LORD made in those encounters. His past was replayed to prepare him for the next challenge of life. His mind was also able to activate and pre-play the future for David to see. That is why he could say to Goliath,<br />
“This day the LORD will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beast of the earth, and the whole World will know that there is a God in Israel. All these gathered here will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” [Verses 46-47].<br />
And after declaring all he was seeing in the pre-play, he was given the resources of heaven to bring what he has in mind to the physical.<br />
Beloved, it is this kind of mindset that the devil seeks to destroy through different sexual temptations; a mind that is able to confront life’s challenges with the confidence and resources of heaven. The battle between David and Goliath was a battle of ‘minds’. In the same way, all the battles that we face today are battles of ‘minds’. It is interesting the way David painted the picture of victory. His victory was so clear to him. Even King Saul was swept off his feet. This is what made him allow David to fight Goliath.”<br />
“Imagination is a product of your soul. However, your soul comprises of your mind, will, intellect and your emotions. With your mind, therefore, you can think and reason out whatever you want to do.”<br />
The Devil’s Target<br />
Now, the target of the devil is to incapacitate, hamper, make ineffective or weaken the ability of God in you for giving birth and fulfilling your destiny in Christ Jesus. His target is to use sexual immorality to cage your mind and introduce subtle but cancerous and destructive tendencies in your life so that your destiny will be destroyed. Will you let him?<br />
You need to understand things from the right perspective. The enemy of our souls is after the engine room of our thinking faculty. Let’s put it in another way, the devil wants to block the ability of your mind from operating at the level which results to excellence, glory and fulfillment of destiny in Christ Jesus. He does not mind if you make it in the things and glories of this world so long as he is sure that you are off track from the path of godliness and purity. You have to stop him!<br />
It’s a battle of ‘minds’!<br />
Every sinful lifestyle or habit of fornication, masturbation, adultery, pornography, lesbianism, homosexuality, rape, lust and immorality has a goal. The enemy’s target is to ‘switch off the button’ that links you up with the true source of light for a glorious destiny in Christ. He knows that without light the mind will grope in darkness, with no sense of direction; doing things as it pleases the flesh instead of pleasing the Lord.<br />
So we need to watch that ‘pleasurable’ gazing at the nakedness of the opposite sex, in movie or photo so as to maintain our connection to the ability of God that helps us to work and walk towards the fulfillment of His purpose for our lives.<br />
<br />
<b>Simply Put</b><br />

Every sexual sin is supposed to among other things, blind or corrupts the memory and imaginative (reasoning) ability so that the child of God will remain where he is without even knowing that he/she is not moving forward. It makes its victims blind to the essentials necessary for keeping our relationship with the Savior in a healthy state. It re-aligns the mind for pursuing things (working and living for things and for the glories of this world).<br />
The fact that the devil, through temptations of unimaginable dimensions, always want to capitalize on our susceptibility to sin, but pretending to be providing pleasure while the real target is to steal our great future and destiny in the Lord, demands unrelenting striving, with the power of God at work in us, to maintain healthy atmosphere in our minds for godly thinking. We need to be mindful of our thoughts.<br />
Run from every transient and empty pleasure of the flesh which have robed many great men and women of their worth. Our attainment of greatness is dependent upon the response of our minds as we face challenges of life. Therefore greatness is not what we attain through acquisition of things or connection to certain caliber of people but we become great in our minds when we are aligned and obey the dictates of the new Covenant in Christ.<br />
So do not exchange your great future in Christ with a sinful pleasure that lasts but for a while.</div>
