What went wrong?
United, who confirmed the £59.7m signing of Argentina star Di Maria from Real Madrid earlier in the evening, were convincingly beaten by the League One side as 23-year-old Brentford loanee Will Grigg tore Louis van Gaal's side to pieces with a superb brace.
Benik Afobe, on loan from Arsenal, added a late pair of his own to rub salt into United's wounds.
Van Gaal is now without a win in his first three competitive matches as United boss, having lost to Swansea and drawn to Sunderland in the Premier Legaue.

'It's a matter of making errors at the wrong moments. When you see the goals against us, I believe it was big errors in building up situations that you cannot make these errors. Four at once, then it's 0-2, then it's very difficult to come back in the game.
'In the second half we created a lot of chances but we didn't have the luck to score. But at least we created a lot of chances.
'Out of another error in building up, it was 0-3, and 0-4. We make also a lot of risk to change the system in one against one, then spaces are big and the manager (Karl Robinson) was very good by bringing in a forward who was very quick and uses the space very good.Do you regret making so many changes?
'No, because you have to analyse the problem and you have to take your measures and I have done that. I think the changes were good. Also risky to change to play one against one. Therefore, MK could score.
'You don't have to forget that we have nine injuries and we had a very young team so I have seen them trying to do their utmost best. No more you cannot expect of players and, of course, we were also unlucky because they scored out of our errors. Then you're always behind to fix. Running behind to fix, I call it in Dutch.'
