Speaker to be sworn-in as acting governor
Members of Adamawa State House of Assembly Tuesday morning impeached the embattled governor of the state, Admiral Murtala Nyako (rtd).
Nyako’s removal was endorsed by 18 of the 24-member legislature after, in their words, finding him guilty of gross misconduct.
Deputy governor James Ngilari, who was accused alongside Nyako, however tendered his letter of resignation to avoid removal.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that arrangements were underway to swear in the Assembly Speaker Ahmadu Fintiri as the acting governor.
According to the Constitution, the acting governor may hold office for not more than 90 days during which fresh elections are to be held.
