The Federal Government yesterday raised the Committee on Victims’ Support Fund‎ to assist those who were attacked by terrorists. The committee will be inaugurated today at the Council Chamber, Aso Villa, Abuja.
A statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, noted that the panel will mobilize resources and arrange appropriate support to Boko Haram victims.
Anyim said President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the composition and appointment of members of the committee with former Defence Minister, Gen. Theophilous Danjuma, as Chairman, while Fola Adeola is his deputy.
Other members are Mohammed Indimi, Abdulsamad I. Rabiu, Sani Dauda, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija,  Cosmas Maduka, Mr. Jim Ovia, Wale Tinubu, Sani Sidi, Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Air Vice Marshal Tony Omenyi (Representing Defence Headquarters).
Others include Police Commissioner Salisu Fagge, representing the police force, Mr. Sayana Yusuf, representing Department of State Security (DSS). Chief Uche Secondus, PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Tijani Tunsah, APC Deputy National
Chairman (North), representative of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), representative of Jamaatul Nasril Islam (JNI), ‎and Chief (Mrs.) Nkechi Mba, representing National Council of Women Societies (NCWS).
The terms of reference include identifying sources and ways of raising sustainable funding to support victims of Boko Haram; developing appropriate strategies for the fund raising; and ascertaining the persons, communities, facilities and economic assets affected by Boko Haram terror activities.
