Adieu, Uncle Ben
What is it about death that makes humans dread to experience it except when they can no longer find a reason to stay here or they find it more painful to imagine that they are here?
There is (was) a man! He was my Training Secretary while I was a student member of NIFES at Enugu State University of science and Technology, Enugu campus, Enugu State, Nigeria. I can still remember his frame. Honestly, there was nothing about him to talk too much about but for one thing, his walk with God. Oh, a man of such simplicity, genuine integrity and honesty, not given to 'smartish' life in the name of wisdom. But, when he prays and talks, you see a heart surrendered to his Maker, Savior and Lord.

While I was in Sokoto, serving as a youth corper in NIFES, Sokoto zone office, he came visiting in his capacity as a management staff. I can still remember that, at that time most of us, very young people serving in NIFES, sees him as the light among the few who are sincere and genuinely open, without some form of deceit and trickery or tribalism etc.

He returned to the head office, after the visit to Sokoto zone and (without giving me any idea of what he saw in me) informed other management Staff that, he has seen someone that The Lord would bring into the team of NIFES Senior Staff. Shortly after his visit I was invited to the head office for an interview (I didn't apply). It was during the interview that I discovered what transpired. Right there at the interview venue I wrote my application letter. I came on the Staff of NIFES in 19995 and this man remained a quiet mentor- no noise about it.

Later, he disengaged from NIFES and has been living quietly in Jos, with his family. He is better known among intercessors, Haggai Leadership Nigeria, his church, Nigeria Prays, Peace House Gboko, NIFES (where, until about 30 minutes ago, he was serving as National Prayer Secretary and so a Governing Council Member of NIFES).
About 3 weeks ago, Uncle Ben Okor called me, while on his way to Abuja for a NIFES National Executive Meeting, but we could not meet to have enough time to talk. Oh, why didn't I realize that I was having an opportunity of a life time to share with my beloved Uncle Ben for the last time here on this earth? Few days after our discussion on phone, the wife called me to inform me that my Uncle Ben was in the hospital, not talking and not moving. He later entered into coma and less than an hour ago he went to be with our Father and God...

Uncle Ben loved genuinely and truly without any guile in him. Uncle Ben, Goodnight, Sir.
