A stunning pyrotechnic shows brings the 2014 World Cup to a close shortly after spectators at the fabled Maracana saw Argentina defeated 1-0 by Germany

Fireworks exploded above the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday after Germany defeated Argentina 1-0 in extra time to win the World Cup.
There were mixed emotions among fans leaving the stadium following a tense World Cup final that came down to a few moments of individual skill.
Scuffles broke out as Argentina fans left the stadium and tensions were running high when a group of Brazilian fans started taunting supporters of their biggest rivals.
It was a different story for Germany's fans, however, who left the stadium singing and dancing.
Mario Goetze scored the goal that gave Germany its fourth World Cup title in its eighth final, and left Argentina star Lionel Messi still walking in the shadow of his compatriot Diego Maradona, who led his country to the 1986 title.
