Security beefed up in Abuja
Abuja, the federal capital city is wearing a new security look, with the visible presence of gun-trotting soldiers checking motorists driving into the city centre.
The military presence, became very visible on Monday as three lane roads were collapsed into one lane for adequate searching.
The express roads leading into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through the airport road, from Kogi State, Nyanya Road from Nasarawa State, Kubwa Road from Niger State and Kaduna Road from Kaduna State, were all collapsed into single lanes.
Also, military presence was noticed at Apo area of the city and many other areas with armed policemen manning strategic areas and junctions.
Also, military and police presence were noticed at parks, gardens, markets, shopping areas and government institutions.
The combined security activities in the capital city was widely applauded by residents and motorists who claimed that the soldiers accorded them respect during the search.
The Inspector General of police, Muhammed Abukakar had before the Sallah celebration, directed an effective and extensive deployment of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force and other special operatives and necessary logistics at every nook and cranny of the country. He urged members of the public to give information to the police.
